At Monkey Bizness, we know the importance of staying active.  Staying active doesn’t just positively impact your physical health, but your entire wellbeing. Pacing around your home may feel a little funny at first, but just try it.  Get yourself up and moving by identifying a “lap” in your area of choice.  This could be to walk the inner perimeter of a room, around the couch and coffee table, back and forth in the hallway, whatever works for you and your arrangement.  At the end of 2017, I was involved in a car accident that left me bedridden for a month.  When I began to feel strength returning, I started walking around my house.  It wasn’t much at first, but it doesn’t need to be.  I started with a few 10-minute segments a day, setting an alarm and pacing until the alarm went off.  By the end of my recovery, I was walking upwards of 30,000 steps a day without even leaving my home.

Become a stair master.  If you have access to stairs, envision them as the mighty Everest and conquer them as often as you feel the need.  No cold-weather gear required.

Pushups, crunches, and planks are a tried and true method of home workouts.  Make yourself a log on a notepad or in your phone.  Start with a number of sets and repetitions that you’re comfortable with, and after each session record what you did.

The beautiful thing about fitness is that there are as many ways to stay fit as there are people in this world.  Do what YOU can do.  Start where you’re comfortable and with what you’re comfortable doing.  And don’t forget…it’s supposed to be fun!  If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing chances are you’ll stop doing it.  Experiment, make up your own all encapsulating routines based on what you enjoy and what keeps you motivated to keep going.
